The offices at Cadillac City Hall are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

No, currently we only accept cash, check, or money order by mail or in person.

1. Can I park on the tree lawn?

Parking on the tree lawn is prohibited. Tree lawn parking permits are issued for prohibited hours.

2. Can I keep inoperable vehicles on my property?

All vehicles on private property must be operable. The vehicles need to have air in the tires; working batteries, headlights, etc.

3. Can I store household items, junk and debris in the yard or on my property?

It is unlawful for a person to place, store, accumulate or maintain garbage or debris in the yard or on private property.

4. Can I park on the sidewalk or block the sidewalk?

The sidewalks need to stay unobstructed for public use.

5. Do I have to mow my lawn?

Every homeowner / occupant is required to remove noxious weeds and grass, including the tree lawn. The grass cannot be over twelve (12) inches on the average.

6. Can I leave my garbage tote at the curb?

The garbage tote can be placed at the curb the night before your scheduled pick-up day, but the tote needs to be brought back off the curb the day it is dumped.

7. Can I put a large item out with my garbage for pick-up?

The waste hauler will take one (1) large item along with your garbage pick-up. This includes tires, appliances, furniture etc.

8. Will the waste hauler take construction material?

The waste hauler will not take construction mateial. If you are undertaking a construction project, you are responsible for making other arrangements for its removal.

9. What do I do with my yard waste?

All yard waste must be placed in bio-degradable bags or containers labeled yard waste. Brush / small limbs must be bundled in four (4) foot lengths and weigh no more than forty (4) pounds.

A yard waste truck will pick up the leaves and tree limbs the same day as your garbage pick-up day.

10. Can I park on the street at night?

From November 15 through April 15 - between the hours of 2:30 am and 6:30 am - there shall be no parking on any street, roadway, alley, or municipal property.

Parking permits are available from the City Offices. When using the designated parking lots for prohibited hours, a parking permit is required.

11. How long can I park downtown?

There is a two (2) hour time limit on downtown parking.

12. Can we feed the ducks along the lake?

City Ordinance prohibits feeding waterfoul (ducks) near the Lake Cadillac Shoreline.

1. How do reserve the Rotary Pavilion or City Park/Fountion?

There is a form that must be completed and submitted for approval. This form can be obtained at City Hall or can be printed from our website. Once approved, a letter will be mailed.

2. Is there a fee to reserve the Rotary Pavilion?

Yes, the rental fee for the Rotary Pavilion is $30.00 per hour plus a $35.00 refundable deposit.
There is no fee for non-profit events or community events.

3. Is there a fee to reserve the City Park/Fountain, Sound Garden, Tree Zoo or Bridge?

4. How can I tell if the date I am requesting in already reserved?

5. Is alcohol allowed in Kenwood Heritage Park; Kenwood Beachside Park; Lakefront Park; City Park; Blackburn Skate Park; Farmers Market; Sound Garden; Greenway; White Pine Trail; or Diggins Hill?

Alcohol is only allowed in Kenwood Heritage Park. Alcohol is NOT allowed in Kenwood Beachside Park; Lakefront Park; City Park; Blackburn Skate Park; Farmers Market; Sound Garden; Greenway; White Pine Trail; or Diggins Hill.

6. When do City Parks open and close?

All City Parks are officially closed after 11:00 pm each night and will open at 7:00 am each morning.

7. Is electricity available at Kenwood Heritage Park; the City Park; and the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion?

Electricity is available at Kenwood Heritage Park in the big pavilion and on the back side of the octagon rest room.

Electricty is available in the City Park at three locations.

Electricity is available in the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion.

8. Is there a sound system at the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion?

A sound system is available in the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion (except for hard rock bands).

9. Is there a fee for the use of the pavilions in Kenwood Heritage and Kenwood Beach Parks?

There is no fee for use of pavilions in Kenwood Heritage and Kenwood Beach Parks. It is on a First Come, First Serve basis.

10. Is there Disc Golf in Kenwood Heritage and Kenwood Beach Parks?

The Disc Golf course in Kenwood Heritage has 24 baskets with concrete tee pads.

The Disc Golf course in Kenwood Beach Park as 9 baskets with dirt tees.

There is no charge for either Disc Golf course.

11. Is there a charge to use the Chestnut Street boat launch or the Kenwood boat launch?

There is no charge to use either the Chestnut Street boat lanuch or the Kenwood boat launch.

12. How long is the McKellop Walk Way and the White Pine trail?

The McKellop Walk Way is 1 mile long from loop to loop. The extension by the Naval Reserve adds approximately 1/8th of a mile.

The White Pine Trail is 1.2 miles long, end to end.

13. Are Weddings allowed at the Water Fountain; Walkway Bridge and Flower Garden at the Extension by the Naval Reserve Building?

Weddings are allowed at the Water Fountain; Walkway Bridge and the Flower Garden at the Extension by Naval Reserve Building when reserved with the City Clerk. There is no charge. Pedestrian traffic cannot be impeded.

14. When the change is removed from the Water Fountain, where does it go?

The change that is removed from the Water Fountain is deposited in the City's General Fund.

15. How much change is taken from the Water Fountain on average?

The amount of change extracted from the Water Fountain is approximately $8.00 to $12.00 - three (3) or four (4) times per season.

2. Where can I find tax information for properties located in Cadillac?

At the City’s website, navigate to “Online Services” and then click “Look Up My Property Taxes” on the left side of the page. Tax information can be searched by the current owner’s name, by address, or by parcel number.

3. How do I find out what a property is zoned?

Cadillac’s zoning map is available online at the City website by navigating to “Online Services” and then click “City Maps” on the left side of the page.

4. Where can I find the Cadillac Zoning Ordinance and City Code?

The Zoning Ordinance is Chapter 46 of the City Code. It may be accessed by going to www.cadillac-mi.net/charter.

5. I want to start a business in downtown Cadillac. Where will my customers park when they come to my business?

A map of places to park in downtown Cadillac is available online by going to “Online Services” and then “City Maps” on the left side of the page. The map was created in October 2010, and it shows the location of each parking area, the number of spaces in that area, and what the restrictions are, if any, for parking in that area.

6. Are there any organizations in Cadillac that provide programs and incentives for businesses and business owners?

Yes, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Downtown Cadillac Association (DCA) are two organizations in Cadillac that focus on downtown businesses. The DDA can be found online at www.cadillac-mi.net/dda, and the DCA can be found at www.downtowncadillac.com.

7. What are the regulations on signs in Cadillac?

Yard waste will be collected from the curb or alley on your normal trash day.

* Each bag may not exceed 30 lbs

* Branches must be less than 4 inches in diameter

* Branches must be less than 4 feet in length

* Each Bundle must be less than 20 inches in diameter

* A max of 10 bags or bundles will be collected each week

*Regulations prohibit the mixing of yard waste with household trash.

4. What Holidays will effect my trash pick-up?

Allied Waste recognizes the following Holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. If your service days fall on or after a holiday that is a weekday, your pick-up will be delayed one day. (Example: if the holiday falls on a Friday, your service day is on Saturday.) If the actual holiday falls on a Saturday, your schedule is not affected.

1. Do you test for bacteria?

Yes, we do Total Coliform / E. Coli testing for drinking water and Total Coliform / E. Coli Enumeration (counting) for drinking and/or surface water. For example, beach testing and heterotrophic plate counts for drinking water / surface water.

2. Do you test for partial chemistry or nitrates?

We do test for nitrates but not partial chemistry

3. What are you certified to test for?

We are certified by the MDEQ to test for Total Coliform / E. Coli Presence / Absence, Total Coliform / E. Coli Enumeration, Heterotrophic Plate Counts, nitrates and Metal analysis.

4. Do you accept septage?

No, at this time we do not accept septage.

5. Do you accept R.V. waste?

No, at this time we do not accept R.V. waste.

6. Is your final water used for drinking water?

No. Even though we are very proud of our water quality, we discharge the final product into a trout stream.

7. My sewer is backed up. How do I know who is responsible?

You can call the Utility Department and we will dispatch someone to check our main sewer line that serves your residence. If the problem is not in the main line, our personnel will notify you. The problem could be in the lateral that runs from the residence to the main line. This commonly happens when, for example, roots overgrow and invade the sewer lines.

8. How can I use so much water?

Typically, main areas of water loss reside in leaking toilets. You can stop into our office for a test strip to test your toilet to see if there is a leak.

9. Is it safe to drink the water during spring or fall flushing?

Water main flushing sometimes results in discolored water. While not harmful, tap water may appear orange in color. We encourage citizens to run the cold water until it clears up. Residents should avoid doing laundry while their water is discolored.

10. Why do I have a previous balance on my bill when I just moved in?

Garbage in the City of Cadillac is billed one month in advance. When you move into a house or apartment you will be charged garbage twice: once for the month you moved in and once for the month ahead. If you ever vacate the premises, you will be credited back a month of garbage.

11. If someone else was living in my house, am I responsible for the bill?

Yes, if you are the landowner. The ordinance of the City of Cadillac states that any unpaid bill is considered a lien on the property and if not paid, will be rolled onto your property taxes.
