Business Climate & Testimonials

Proactive City of Cadillac Development Assistance

The City of Cadillac is very proactive when it comes to business and industrial development.   We have developed three industrial parks, which comprise 7% of the total land use in the City of Cadillac and 47% of the City’s tax base.   Most of our growth has come from existing industry, which continues to expand in Cadillac thanks to the excellent business climate.   In March 2003, Site Selection Magazine listed Cadillac, Michigan 17 th in the top 100 U.S. small towns for corporate facilities.   The City Council and staff are highly knowledgeable and strong supporters of various economic development incentive tools designed to assist new and growing industry.   We work very well with partner agencies such as the Cadillac Industrial Fund, the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce, and area industry to answer questions, interface with other governmental agencies, and lay the pathway to assist development, job creation and private investment critical to the health of our community.

Cadillac Industrial Fund

The Cadillac Industrial Fund (CIF) is a private, non-profit corporation that was formed over 50 years ago by leading businessmen in the Cadillac community.   Today, the CIF is as strong as ever, still led by area business leaders who understand what it takes to be successful in business and industry.   The CIF is the marketing, business retention, and business recruitment arm of the Cadillac community.   It has assisted numerous manufacturers in the past by assisting with site selection, financing, and even speculative building construction.   The CIF works very closely with the City of Cadillac to be sure all financial and incentive programs are accessible and evaluated for each prospective new development.   Confidentiality is an absolute hallmark of this group and its operations.

Testimonials from existing Cadillac CEOs

“Four Winns has been a part of Cadillac for so long that Cadillac has become part of us.   The work ethic of the people in the upper Midwest is about the best I’ve seen, and those are the kinds of things that are irreplaceable.”   -- John Anderson, President, Four Winns.

Regarding Cadillac’s response when new parent company Genmar considered moving Four Winns to Florida, “I’m still in awe of how quickly everything came together.   We began dealing with the City and MEDC as soon as we realized that a move to Florida was a possibility, and we were able to negotiate the entire incentive package in about three weeks.   I was amazed at how responsive the governments of both Michigan and Cadillac were.”     -- John Anderson, President, Four Winns.
