Transportation


Highway Access

There are several state system highways that provide the Cadillac area with excellent transportation service.   They include M-55, M-115 and US 131.   M-55 is an east-west highway that is approximately three miles southwest of the Potvin Industrial Park.   M-115 is a northwest-southeast highway that is approximately one mile west of the Potvin Industrial Park.   US 131 is a north-south highway that is approximately 3 1/2 miles east of the Potvin Industrial Park.    The nearest interstate highway is I-75, which is approximately 50 miles east of Cadillac.

 

Trucking Routes

The Potvin Industrial Park is located 0.1 miles from 13 th Street, the nearest trucking route, which directly connects with M-115 and US 131.   M-55 is indirectly linked via M-115.   Please refer to the attached Trucking Routes map, which illustrates City of Cadillac trucking routes relative to the Potvin Industrial Park.

 

Rail Access

The nearest railroad to the Potvin Industrial Park is the Tuscola & Saginaw Bay railroad.   This rail currently bounds the south property lines of Lots 7, 8, and 9.   At present, the railroad does not have a spur in place that services the Potvin Industrial Park.   However, the City has successfully negotiated with Tuscola & Saginaw Bay in the past in several instances to provide such access to area manufacturers, based on their specific needs and projected private investment.  

 

Shipping Port

The City of Cadillac is located approximately 50 miles inland from Lake Michigan and the nearest navigable water/barge port is located in Manistee, Michigan.

 

Airports

The Cadillac-Wexford Airport is located approximately one mile to the north of the James E. Potvin Industrial Park and while it does not have routine commercial service, it does provide a clear alternative for private aircraft.   The airport is currently being upgraded to include an ILS system.   The nearest commercial airport to the James E. Potvin Industrial Park is Cherry Capital Airport, located 55 miles northwest in Traverse City, Michigan.   Currently, Cherry Capital offers 15 commercial flights per day, with five flights departing/arriving from Chicago, Illinois; seven flights departing/arriving from Detroit, Michigan; and three flights departing/arriving from Minneapolis, Minnesota.   Cherry Capital Airport is also currently undergoing an 87,000 sq. ft. terminal building expansion.
