Fireworks Information ; Updated Safety and Policy Regulations


The City of Cadillac has new rules that govern the use of CONSUMER

FIREWORKS CONSUMER FIREWORKS are defined as “fireworks devices that are designed to produce visible or audible effects by combustion, that are required to comply with the construction, chemical composition, and labeling regulations promulgated by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission under 16 CFR Parts 1500 and 1507, and that are listed in APA standard 87-1,
3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.5. Consumer fireworks do not include low-impact fireworks.”

NOVELTY FIREWORKS and LOW IMPACT FIREWORKS are not regulated by local laws. Examples of NOVELTY FIREWORKS include pop-drops/snappers and smoke balls. Examples of LOW IMPACT FIREWORKS include ground based/handheld sparklers and smoke devices.
Examples of CONSUMER FIREWORKS include roman candles, bottle rockets, mortars, and firecrackers.

NOVELTY and LOW IMPACT fireworks can be used on private property as long as they are not becoming a nuisance

CONSUMER FIREWORKS can only be used in the City of Cadillac as follows:
o 11AM December 31st – 1AM January 1st
o 11AM – 1145PM on the Saturday and Sunday before Memorial Day
o 11AM – 1145PM beginning June 29th through July 4th
o 11AM – 1145PM July 5th (due to the 5th being on a Friday)
o 11AM – 1145PM July 7th (due to the Freedom Festival Fireworks being on the 7th)
o 11AM – 1145PM on the Saturday and Sunday before Labor Day

These rules apply exclusively to CONSUMER FIREWORKS, not FIREWORKS DISPLAYS
