The City of Cadillac’s Utilities Department is issuing a run water notice for the entire City. The Utilities Department monitors the frost levels in various manholes throughout the City and at this time has determined that due to the depth of frost a run water notice is necessary.
The Utilities Department is requesting that a small pencil lead size stream be allowed to run continuously on one faucet. A rate of one gallon per 15 minutes seems to work well. Please remember that this must be done continuously, even though the outside temperature may rise above freezing the frost that has been driven into the ground will still be there until spring. Please continue to run your water until we issue a Stop Run Water Notice.
The City will base billing on the months of November and December water usage average, there will be no need to call our office to request this averaging. Any water and sewer used above this average will be adjusted in the next billing cycle. If a person’s water runs at a rate of one gallon for every 15 minutes the utility bill, which is a combination of water and sewer charges, it will increase a total of $14.12. Because people may run the water at a higher rate the City will adjust the water bills by a maximum of $18.00. This will show up the March bill you receive in April. Please feel free to contact our office at 775-0181 ext.123, if you should have any additional questions.
